Gas Discovery in Dera Bugti: Mari Energies Limited Announces New Find in Balochistan

Karachi: Mari Energies Limited has announced a significant gas discovery at the Tibri-1 exploratory well, drilled in the Kalchas South Block in Dera Bugti District, Balochistan Province. This development comes after the well was spudded on November 11, 2025, and drilled to a total depth of 7,170 feet.

The Kalchas South joint venture, comprising United Energy Pakistan Limited (UEPL) as Operator with a 46% working interest, Mari Energies Limited with 44% working interest, and Dewan Petroleum (Pvt.) Limited (DPL) holding 10% working interest, has made this discovery. Initial testing of the Dunghan/Sui Main Limestone (SML) has revealed a flow rate of 11 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) gas at a 64/64-inch choke, with a wellhead flowing pressure of 561 psig, and 6.5 MMSCFD gas at a 32/64-inch choke, with a wellhead flowing pressure of 1,161 psig. Further evaluations are underway to assess the well's full potential.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), this discovery marks a notable milestone for the region, which had remained dormant due to security challenges. Exploration activities were resumed following the acquisition of working interest from DPL in July 2023, leading to the successful Tibri-1 gas discovery.

The joint venture's efforts highlight their commitment to the exploration and development of Pakistan's domestic hydrocarbon resources, a crucial aspect of the country's energy strategy. The disclosure of this material and price-sensitive information is in accordance with Section 96 of the Securities Act, 2015, and Clause 5.6.1 (a) of the PSX Regulations.
