Karachi: Pakistan Oilfields Limited (POL) has announced a significant hydrocarbon find at the Razgir-1 exploratory well in the TAL Block, as per a recent disclosure made in accordance with Listing Regulations and information sourced from MOL, the block's operator. The discovery was reported after the well, initiated on January 9, 2024, reached a depth of 3,950 meters.
A Drill Stem Test (DST) conducted at the Razgir-1 well revealed a daily output of 20 million standard cubic feet of gas and 250 barrels of condensate. These tests, performed at a fixed choke size of 40/64 inches under a wellhead pressure of 2,348 psi, are part of ongoing operations to determine the well's full potential.
According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), these early test results are promising but not definitive indicators of future production volumes, which may vary. The DST, a critical process for isolating and assessing surrounding geological formations, provides essential data on pressure behavior and fluid sampling that informs the potential for commercial production.
Currently, Pakistan Oilfields Limited holds a 25% pre-commerciality working interest in the TAL Block. Further testing will continue to ascertain the actual commercial viability of the newly discovered hydrocarbons at Razgir-1.
