IGI Life Insurance Reports Decline in Half-Yearly Profit Amid Reduced Premium Revenue

Lahore: IGI Life Insurance Limited has reported its financial results for the half-year ended June 30, 2026, with a notable decrease in profit after taxation, as announced in a report dated August 24, 2026. The company's Board of Directors, during a meeting held on August 21, 2026, declared no cash dividend, bonus shares, right shares, or any other entitlements for the period under review.

The company’s total assets stood at 41.15 billion rupees as of June 30, 2026, down from 43.66 billion rupees as of December 31, 2025. This reduction in assets is reflected in the decline of investments in government securities, which dropped to 10.72 billion rupees from 14.73 billion rupees, and cash and bank balances, which decreased to 1.14 billion rupees from 1.53 billion rupees. The total equity increased to 2.83 billion rupees from 2.70 billion rupees, driven by an increase in unappropriated profits, although the surplus on the revaluation of available-for-sale investments decreased significantly.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), IGI Life Insurance's gross premium revenue for the half-year ended June 30, 2026, was 5.10 billion rupees, a very large or significant move down from 7.14 billion rupees in the same period last year. This increase contributed to the overall decline in net income, which fell to 6.46 billion rupees from 8.92 billion rupees, representing a very large or significant move.

IGI Life Insurance's profit after taxation for the half-year stood at 157.20 million rupees, down from 168.86 million rupees in the previous year. The basic and diluted earnings per share decreased to 0.92 rupees from 0.99 rupees.
