Rahim Yar Khan: JDW Group’s initiative in the bagasse-based co-generation sector is significantly contributing to the realization of the sugar industry’s 2,500 MW power generation potential. On January 23, 2026, JDW’s efforts continue to highlight the importance of sustainable practices in sugar manufacturing.

In 2014, JDW commissioned two co-generation bagasse-based power plants, providing a combined capacity of 53.4 MW. JDW II contributes 26.6 MW, while JDW III adds 26.8 MW. These plants utilize bagasse, a byproduct of sugar processing, to generate electricity, which is then exported to the National Grid.

JDW Unit-I, incorporated in May 1990 and located in Rahim Yar Khan, Punjab, reported a sugar production of 291,203 tons for the 2024-25 season. JDW Unit-II, acquired in November 2005 and also in Rahim Yar Khan, produced 219,108 tons in the same period. JDW Unit-III, incorporated in June 2006 and situated in Ghotki, Sindh, achieved 169,680 tons. DSML, incorporated in July 2010 and based in Ghotki, Sindh, produced 133,704 tons.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), JDW Group manages the largest sugarcane corporate farms in the country, covering 25,955 acres across Punjab and Sindh. Punjab accounts for 12,293 acres, while Sindh covers 13,662 acres. These corporate farms play a crucial role in ensuring a consistent supply of sugarcane during the crushing season, supporting the group’s operational needs.

JDW’s innovative farming techniques have also contributed to the capacity building of local farmers, resulting in improved and reliable cane supply to the group. This strategic approach not only enhances productivity but also strengthens the regional agricultural landscape.
