JS Bank Reports Financial Growth Amid Decline in Non-Interest Income

Karachi: JS Bank Limited has announced its unaudited financial results for the half-year ended June 30, 2026, following a meeting of its Board of Directors on August 25, 2026. The meeting, held at the bank's headquarters in Karachi, revealed an increase in net assets and profit after tax, despite a decline in non-interest income.

The bank's total assets saw a significant rise to 759.28 billion rupees from 655.64 billion rupees as of December 31, 2025. This growth was driven primarily by a notable increase in investments, which rose to 419.78 billion rupees from 278.03 billion rupees. Deposits and other accounts also saw an increase to 637.62 billion rupees from 543.50 billion rupees.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), JS Bank's profit before taxation experienced a very large or significant move, rising to 6.64 billion rupees from 3.49 billion rupees in the same period last year. Profit after taxation also reflected this upward trend, climbing to 3.20 billion rupees from 1.56 billion rupees over the same period.

Despite these gains, the bank faced a decline in non-markup or interest income, which fell to 4.97 billion rupees from 7.41 billion rupees. This decrease was partially due to a reduction in the gain on securities, which dropped to 343.50 million rupees from 2.17 billion rupees.

Net markup or interest income saw a moderate move, increasing to 14.63 billion rupees from 13.96 billion rupees. Operating expenses remained relatively stable at 14.54 billion rupees, compared to 14.43 billion rupees in the previous year.

The bank's net assets stood at 49.11 billion rupees, up from 46.66 billion rupees, supported by a rise in unappropriated profit to 18.06 billion rupees from 15.40 billion rupees. Share capital remained constant at 20.51 billion rupees.

Earnings per share for the half-year increased to 1.56 rupees from 0.76 rupees, reflecting the bank's improved profitability. The financial results underscore JS Bank's resilience in navigating market challenges while maintaining a focus on asset growth and profitability.
