JS Global Banking Sector ETF Sees Moderate July Performance Amid High-Risk Profile

Karachi: JS Global Banking Sector Exchange Traded Fund (JSGBETF), an open-ended scheme listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), reported a net asset value of PKR 376.71 million as of the end of July 2026. As part of its investment strategy, the fund aims to track the JS Global Banking Sector Index, offering long-term capital appreciation and dividends to its investors.

Launched on September 11, 2023, the JSGBETF is categorized as an Exchange Traded Fund with no front-end or back-end load, operating under a high-risk profile. The fund employs a market pricing mechanism consistent with PSX regulations, with the Central Depository Company of Pakistan Ltd. serving as trustee and Grant Thornton as the appointed auditor.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), JSGBETF recorded a monthly performance of 1.98% for July 2026, marking a moderate move. This reflects a slight underperformance compared to its benchmark, which showed a 2.60% increase. The year-to-date performance for 2026 stands at 6.48%, slightly surpassing the benchmark's 5.55%.

The fund's asset allocation for July 2026 includes 94.89% in equities and 5.11% in cash. Among its top equity holdings, Meezan Bank Limited leads with 14.29% of the total assets, followed by MCB Bank Limited at 12.30%, and United Bank Limited at 12.08%. Other significant holdings include Bank Alfalah Limited, Bank Al-Habib Limited, and National Bank of Pakistan.

The JSGBETF's performance since its launch has been significant, with an overall increase of 590.43%. However, it trails its benchmark's growth of 652.57%, indicating a difference of -62.14%. The fund's total expense ratios are recorded at 0.10% month-to-date and 0.74% year-to-date, with a management fee of 0.75% of net assets.

Despite the high-risk nature of its investment profile, the JSGBETF continues to attract investors seeking exposure to the banking sector, leveraging its strategic alignment with the JS Global Banking Sector Index.
