Khairpur Sugar Mills Limited Reports Significant Financial Movements Amidst Sector Fluctuations


Karachi: Khairpur Sugar Mills Limited has revealed its financial performance for the year ending September 30, 2025, displaying notable changes in various financial metrics and cash flows. The company’s financial statement, dated December 31, 2025, outlines the dynamics within its operations amidst broader market conditions.



The sugar mill’s net sales for the period amounted to Rs. 11,137.02 million, a slight decrease from the previous year’s Rs. 11,363.65 million. The cost of sales also saw a decrease, from Rs. 10,191.53 million to Rs. 9,992.44 million. This resulted in a gross profit of Rs. 1,144.59 million, compared to Rs. 1,172.11 million for the prior year. Operating expenses, including administrative and distribution costs, registered an increase, while finance costs decreased from Rs. 568.48 million to Rs. 468.77 million.



According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the profit before income tax for 2025 reached Rs. 265.91 million, reflecting a moderate move of 2.99% from Rs. 258.20 million in 2024. The company’s profit after income tax was Rs. 61.52 million, marking a minor move of 2.83% from the previous year’s Rs. 59.83 million. Earnings per share also saw a slight increase, rising to Rs. 3.84 from Rs. 3.74.



In terms of cash flows, the company reported a net cash decrease in certain activities. Cash flows from operating activities showed a net usage of Rs. 323.29 million, while cash flows from investing activities recorded a net usage of Rs. 248.80 million. Contrastingly, cash flows from financing activities revealed a net generation of Rs. 708.62 million.



The statement of financial position highlighted an increase in total assets, which stood at Rs. 10,678.17 million from Rs. 8,789.34 million in the previous year. The equity section showed significant growth, with shareholders’ equity rising to Rs. 5,002.66 million from Rs. 4,064.94 million, driven by an increase in the revaluation surplus on property, plant, and equipment.
