Khalid Siraj Textile Mills Reports Significant Losses in Latest Financial Year

Lahore: Khalid Siraj Textile Mills Limited has unveiled its 37th Annual Report for the financial year ending June 30, 2024, highlighting a challenging period marked by a substantial net loss. Despite efforts to stabilize operations, the company reported a net loss after taxation amounting to Rs.13.72 million, a stark contrast to the Rs.0.33 million profit recorded in the previous year.

The annual report, presented by the Board of Directors, detailed the company's financial performance, showing a profit before taxation loss of Rs.6.95 million in 2024, compared to a profit of Rs.0.64 million in 2023. Taxation for the year was recorded at Rs.6.77 million, further impacting the overall financial outcomes.

A key component of the financial results was the other operating income, which fell to Rs.20.14 million from Rs.30.40 million in the previous year. This decrease significantly affected the company's ability to offset the losses incurred during the year. Notably, the total comprehensive income for the year echoed the net loss after taxation, standing at a negative Rs.13.72 million.

The company's earnings per share, both basic and anti-dilutive, were reported at a loss of Rs.1.28, dropping from a positive Rs.0.03 in the previous year. The breakup value of shares also reflected the downturn, decreasing from Rs.4.13 to Rs.5.41.

The company's assets were valued at Rs.324.31 million as of June 30, 2024, down from Rs.348.38 million a year earlier. Despite these challenges, there were no material changes or commitments affecting the financial position post the financial year-end, according to the Directors' Report.

According to information available from Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the textile industry remains a significant part of the manufacturing sector, contributing substantially to the country's economy. However, the current financial environment has posed severe challenges to companies like Khalid Siraj Textile Mills Limited.

Operationally, the company held five Board of Directors meetings throughout the year, with high attendance rates among directors. An established Audit Committee and HR and Remuneration Committee also conducted four meetings each during the year, ensuring corporate governance compliance.

The report also highlighted the company's commitment to quality control and effective communication with shareholders. Despite the financial setbacks, Khalid Siraj Textile Mills Limited continues to prioritize shareholder engagement and transparency in its operations, ensuring timely distribution of financial statements and facilitating shareholder inquiries during the Annual General Meeting.

The company's financial instruments and asset revaluation strategies were outlined, with no significant transactions noted with related parties during the year. Furthermore, no notable events have occurred post the balance sheet date that would impact the financial statements as confirmed by the Board of Directors on January 6, 2025.

With the complexities of the textile market and global economic conditions, the company continues to navigate challenging waters, seeking avenues for recovery and growth in the upcoming fiscal year.
