Kohat Cement Company Limited Completes 12 Million Share Buy-Back

Karachi: Kohat Cement Company Limited has finalized the buy-back of 12 million shares, a strategic move executed in compliance with the Listed Companies (Buy-Back of Shares) Regulations, 2019. This transaction was conducted through the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) over a period beginning October 23, 2024, and concluding on April 11, 2025.

The board of directors initiated the buy-back decision during a meeting on September 5, 2024, which was subsequently ratified by a special resolution at a general meeting on October 15, 2024. Public disclosure of the buy-back plan was made on October 16, 2024. The buy-back was carried out at prevailing spot prices through the PSX's automated trading system, culminating in the acquisition of all targeted shares.

The completion of the buy-back was formally announced on April 12, 2025. According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the total expenditure for the 12 million shares amounted to PKR4.71 billion. The buy-back did not involve any treasury shares, and the purchased shares were subsequently canceled in entirety.

The price and share purchase were distributed across several key dates during the buy-back period. On February 17, 2025, 242,000 shares were bought at an average price of PKR375.60 per share. This was followed by acquisitions on April 8, 2025, of 314,124 shares at PKR388.67, and on April 9, 2025, of 1.62 million shares at the same average price. The largest transactions occurred on April 10 and 11, 2025, with 4.14 million and 5.68 million shares purchased at average prices of PKR393.68 and PKR393.55, respectively.
