Kot Addu Power Company Receives NEPRA Approval for Tri-Partite Power Purchase Agreement

Islamabad: Kot Addu Power Company Limited has announced a significant regulatory milestone with the approval of its Tri-Partite Power Purchase Agreement (TPPA) by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA). The agreement, which involves the Central Power Purchasing Agency (Guarantee) Limited (CPPA-G) and the National Grid Company of Pakistan Limited, marks a crucial step in the operationalization of the power plant.

The approval was communicated through a letter dated May 19, 2025, addressed to CPPA-G and copied to the Kot Addu Power Company. This development follows an earlier notification to the stock exchange on April 10, 2025, under Post ID: 250865. The TPPA outlines terms and schedules that will govern the power purchase and distribution from the plant.

Key stipulations from NEPRA's directive include the requirement to conduct an Initial Capacity Test (ICT) and a Heat Rate Test (HRT) to benchmark the plant's efficacy. An Independent Engineer will oversee these tests to evaluate and determine the Simple Cycle Efficiency and Heat Rate numbers. These findings will be submitted to NEPRA along with the ICT and HRT reports, paving the way for the TPPA to become effective.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the Kot Addu Power Company is taking necessary steps to inform the TRE Certificate Holders of the Exchange about this development. The company also emphasized its commitment to ensuring compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.

This development places Kot Addu Power Company in the spotlight of the designated market category, as it prepares for the next phases of operational readiness and regulatory compliance.
