Macpac Films Reports Modest Revenue Growth Amidst Economic Challenges

Karachi: Macpac Films Limited has announced a slight increase in its net revenue for the first quarter of the financial year 2025, according to a recent directors' report released on October 24, 2024. The company registered a 0.9% rise in net revenue, totaling PKR 1,475.1 million compared to PKR 1,462.2 million in the same period last year. This growth occurs within a cautiously optimistic economic outlook for Pakistan despite significant financial strain due to increased borrowing costs and depreciation of the Pakistani Rupee.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), Macpac Films has navigated the economic pressures with a focus on operational efficiency and strategic initiatives. The company reported a gross profit of PKR 168.9 million with a margin of 11.5%, slightly down from PKR 344.4 million during the same period last year, primarily due to rising gas prices and other operational challenges.

The report also highlights the company's dedication to digital transformation and sustainability. Over the past year, Macpac Films has implemented significant technological upgrades, including the installation of a 1 MW solar power system, which is projected to considerably reduce their carbon footprint and generate approximately 1.4 million kWh annually, thereby greatly reducing dependence on non-renewable energy sources.

Furthermore, the company remains committed to its corporate social responsibility initiatives, particularly in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) areas. The recent collaboration with a local mental health organization underscores their commitment to enhancing employee well-being and fostering a more inclusive workplace.

Despite the ongoing global economic challenges and local market volatility, Macpac Films is optimistic about sustaining profitability and long-term value to shareholders while continuing to navigate the complex economic landscape faced by the nation.
