Mandatory Disclosure of Gender Pay Gap Data in Annual Reports Emphasized

Karachi: In a continued effort to enhance transparency and support gender equality within Pakistan's corporate sector, the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has reiterated its directive for listed companies to disclose gender pay gap data. This requirement, as per Circular no. 10 of 2024, was reaffirmed in a notice dated September 7, 2026, and follows a series of previous notifications, including Notice no. PSX/N-1140 from November 26, 2024, and the latest Notice no. PSX/N-975 from August 6, 2026. The SECP mandates that companies must include this data in their annual reports and on their websites.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the directive aligns with the objectives of the Prime Minister's Women Empowerment Package (PM-WEP) 2024, and it applies to listed companies whose fiscal year concluded on June 30, 2026. These companies are urged to ensure full compliance by incorporating the gender pay gap information in their forthcoming annual reports, using the SECP's suggested template.

Non-compliance with the SECP's requirements, or the submission of incomplete disclosures, could result in enforcement actions against the offending companies. This move aims to promote gender equality and encourage a more balanced representation in the workforce, reinforcing the importance of transparency in corporate practices.
