Islamabad: Mari Energies Limited has announced the initiation of gas and condensate production from the Shewa discovery, situated in the Waziristan Block of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province. The production began under the Extended Well Testing (EWT) phase following the completion of the gas transmission pipeline by Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL), the company disclosed on March 25, 2025.

The current average production rates from the Shewa discovery are reported to be 26 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas and 244 barrels per day (BBLs/D) of condensate. The company stated that production is being progressively increased to reach its full potential, pending the stabilization of gas processing plant operating parameters and export systems.

Mari Energies Limited serves as the operator of the Waziristan Block, with a 55% working interest. The company is in partnership with Oil and Gas Development Company Limited, which holds a 35% stake, and Orient Petroleum Inc., which owns a 10% interest. This collaboration marks a substantial advancement in the energy security of the country.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), this development is considered a significant milestone, not only for Mari Energies Limited and its partners but also for the socio-economic development of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region.

The company has advised that this information be disseminated to the TRE certificate holders of the Exchange, reflecting its compliance with Section 96 of the Securities Act, 2015, and Clause 5.6.1 (a) of the PSX Regulations.
