MCB Investment Management Limited Reports Financial Results for Alhamra Wada Fund for Half Year Ended December 31, 2024

Karachi: On February 6, 2025, MCB Investment Management Limited, the management company of the Alhamra Wada Fund, disclosed its financial results for the half-year period ending December 31, 2024. The Board of Directors approved these results during a meeting held at the company's head office in Karachi on February 4, 2025.

The financial statements released include the Statement of Assets and Liabilities, Statement of Profit and Loss, Statement of Other Comprehensive Income, Statement of Movement in Unit Holders' Fund, and Statement of Cash Flows. However, the Earnings Per Unit (EPU) has not been disclosed as the management cited the impracticality of calculating the weighted average number of units.

As of December 31, 2024, Alhamra Wada Fund's total assets stood at 3.20 billion. The breakdown of assets for Plans VIII, IX, X, and XI are as follows: 323.57 million, 331.35 million, 1.06 billion, and 1.48 billion, respectively. Correspondingly, the total liabilities amounted to 73.44 million, with net assets recorded at 3.13 billion.

The unit holders' fund, matching the net assets, also totaled 3.13 billion. The number of units in issue across all plans summed up to 31,254,467, with net asset values per unit recorded at 100.1559 for Plan VIII, 100.2262 for Plan IX, 100.1625 for Plan X, and 100.1893 for Plan XI.

Operating activities for the period resulted in a net income before taxation of 115.29 million. According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), adjustments were made for an unrealized gain in the fair value of investments classified at fair value through profit or loss, netting to 2.61 billion. The net cash generated from operating activities amounted to 2.89 billion.

The fund experienced cash outflows in the financing activities, with net cash used amounting to 2.92 billion, primarily due to the redemption of units and distributions made during the period. This led to a net decrease in cash and cash equivalents of 39.68 million by the end of the reporting period.

For comparative analysis, during the half-year ending December 31, 2023, the fund recorded a net income of 420.34 million before taxation and generated net cash from operating activities of 3.25 billion. However, financing activities then led to a net cash outflow of 496.79 million.

The financial results reflect the fund's ongoing performance amidst market conditions, showcasing its ability to manage assets effectively despite challenges in the financial landscape.
