Meezan Bank Announces 80% Interim Cash Dividend for Shareholders

Karachi: Meezan Bank Ltd. has announced a significant interim cash dividend of 80% for its shareholders, as disclosed in the official report dated August 10, 2026. This announcement, in compliance with Section 125 of the Companies Act, 2017, and PSX Regulation No. 5.5.11, is set to benefit shareholders with a dividend of Rs. 8 per share, reflecting the bank's robust financial performance.

The decision to declare the 80% interim cash dividend was made during the Board of Directors' meeting on August 6, 2026. The bank has communicated the details of this dividend entitlement through notices published in two national newspapers, Business Recorder and Daily Express, ensuring the information reaches a wide audience.

In preparation for the dividend distribution, Meezan Bank has announced the closure of its Share Transfer Books from August 19, 2026, to August 20, 2026. Share transfer requests submitted by the close of business on August 18, 2026, will be processed in time for the entitlement. This measure is in line with the bank's commitment to ensuring an orderly and transparent dividend distribution process.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the interim dividend announcement marks a significant financial move for Meezan Bank, highlighting its commitment to rewarding shareholders. The bank has also advised shareholders to ensure their tax information is up to date, as withholding tax deductions on dividends will be applied according to the Government of Pakistan's amendments to Section 150 of the Income Tax Ordinance 2001.

Shareholders have been urged to verify their inclusion in the Federal Board of Revenue's Active Taxpayers List (ATL) to avoid higher tax deductions as non-filers. Additionally, joint shareholders are required to submit their shareholding proportions to the bank's Share Registrar, THK Associates (Pvt.) Limited, by August 18, 2026, to facilitate accurate tax deductions per the FBR's guidelines.
