Mitchell’s Fruit Farms Posts Substantial Profit in Fiscal Year 2024: Lahore

Lahore: Mitchell's Fruit Farms Limited reported a significant turnaround in fiscal year 2024, achieving a profit after tax of PKR 456.24 million, in stark contrast to a loss of PKR 59.19 million in the previous year. This performance marks a remarkable recovery, underscoring the effectiveness of the company's strategic initiatives.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the Lahore-based company saw a decrease in gross turnover by 2.89% to PKR 3,597.05 million and net turnover by 3.04% to PKR 2,642.16 million. However, the gross profit margin improved significantly, rising from 23.78% to 29.87%. This boost in profitability reflects a successful cost control strategy that saw selling and distribution expenses decrease by 22.74% and administrative expenses by 6.84%.

Further analysis reveals the strategic sale of non-core land assets significantly contributed to this fiscal achievement, facilitating necessary funds for reinvestment in core business areas. These areas include export sales and B2B ventures, which have strengthened Mitchell's market position.

On operational fronts, Mitchell's investments in technology, notably the SAP system, have enhanced decision-making capabilities. These advancements contributed to operational efficiencies and robust financial performance, as highlighted in the Chairman's Review.

The company's focus remains on sustainable growth and reinvestment of profits into high-potential business areas. Looking ahead, Mitchell's aims to continue leveraging its strengthened financial position to explore new growth opportunities, particularly in pulping business expansions and global ethnic food markets.
