Multiple Reports of Lost Share Certificates Emerge in Karachi

Karachi: A series of notices regarding the loss of share certificates have been issued by FAMCO Share Registration Services (Pvt) Ltd for various companies, including Engro Corporation Limited, Pakistan Petroleum Limited, and Archroma Pakistan Limited. The notices, dated September 15, 2025, highlight incidents of missing certificates reported earlier this month.

According to the notice concerning Engro Corporation Limited, Mrs. Farida Amin of Karachi reported the loss of her share certificate on September 12. The certificate in question, numbered 2346862, covers 92 shares. FAMCO has advised members of the exchange not to engage in transactions involving these shares unless objections are raised within seven days of the notice's publication. Similarly, Mr. Abdul Shakoor reported the loss of his Engro Corporation Limited certificates on September 11, encompassing a total of four shares, with certificate numbers 10735042 and 10735053.

The Pakistan Petroleum Limited certificates belonging to Mr. Thakur Lal Tharwani from Ghotki were reported lost on September 10. The reported lost certificates cover a total of 593 shares, spread across certificate numbers 126712, 148208, 148209, 182590, and 220423.

Mst. Shah B1131, residing in Karachi, reported a significant number of lost share certificates from Archroma Pakistan Limited on September 4. The certificates, numbering from 1748 to 46660, account for a substantial number of shares, totaling 1,643.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the members have been urged to refrain from dealing in these particular share certificates pending the potential issuance of duplicates, should no objections be raised within the stipulated timeframe. The designated market category for these shares is the main board.

The procedures outlined in these notices are part of standard protocol to safeguard against unauthorized trading and to ensure rightful ownership is maintained. If no objections are received within the seven-day window, fresh duplicate certificates will be issued to the respective shareholders, allowing them to resume their transactions with the said shares.
