National Foods Limited Reports Moderate Decline in Quarterly Profits

Karachi: National Foods Limited has announced its financial results for the quarter ending September 30, 2026, revealing a moderate decline in profits compared to the same period last year. The company reported a net profit of 916.36 million rupees for the current quarter, down from 1.05 billion rupees in the previous year, marking a 12.46% decrease.

Sales for the quarter reached 10.97 billion rupees, an increase from the 10.04 billion rupees reported for the same quarter last year. Despite the increase in sales, the cost of sales also rose to 7.15 billion rupees from 6.22 billion rupees, resulting in a gross profit of 3.82 billion rupees, marginally higher than last year's 3.82 billion rupees.

Operating profit for the quarter was reported at 1.16 billion rupees, down from 1.42 billion rupees in the previous year. This decline was largely attributed to increased selling and distribution costs, which rose to 1.92 billion rupees from 1.62 billion rupees, and administrative expenses amounting to 748.24 million rupees, slightly lower than last year's 778.09 million rupees.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), National Foods Limited's financial performance also reflected an increase in other income to 184.98 million rupees, compared to 62.49 million rupees in the previous year. However, finance costs increased to 274.15 million rupees from 216.57 million rupees.

Profit before final taxes, minimum tax differential, and income tax stood at 977.61 million rupees, compared to 1.17 billion rupees last year. After accounting for income tax expenses of 53.35 million rupees, down from 86.39 million rupees, the company reported a total comprehensive income of 916.36 million rupees.

Earnings per share declined to 3.93 rupees from 4.49 rupees a year ago, reflecting the overall moderate move in profitability. The results underscore the challenges faced by the company in balancing rising costs with revenue growth in a competitive market environment.
