Karachi: Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has announced significant advancements in its production capabilities, with enhancements at the Pasakhi-7 well and the commencement of gas supply from the Chak 212-1 exploratory well. The details were disclosed in compliance with Section 96 of the Securities Act, 2015 and Clause 5.6.1(a) of PSX Regulations.
On October 20, 2023, OGDCL revealed the enhancement of oil production from the Pasakhi-7 well, situated in District Hyderabad, Sindh. The company, which holds a 100% working interest in the Pasakhi Development & Production Lease (D&PL), has successfully increased the well's production from 375 barrels per day (BPD) to 520 BPD. This increment of 145 BPD was achieved by deploying a rig to replace the tubing and re-complete the well using an artificial lift system known as the Jet Pump. Additionally, OGDCL introduced Multiphysio Chemical Stimulation technology at this site, marking its first application in the Southern Region of Pakistan.
In another milestone, the Chak 212-1 exploratory well, located in the Rahim Yar Khan district of Punjab province, has commenced gas production. This well represents the first-ever discovery in the Mari East Block, where OGDCL also holds a 100% working interest. A 4"-14.5 km flow line was laid from the well site to the Maru-1 facility, enabling the supply of gas to M/s Engro Fertilizer. Currently, 2.00 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas is being supplied, enhancing the company's portfolio in the market category.
According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), these strategic initiatives underscore OGDCL's commitment to optimizing production, ensuring energy security, and fostering sustainable development. With these advancements, OGDCL continues to play a pivotal role in the energy sector, contributing to the country's economic growth and energy needs.
