Karachi: Pakistan Cables has demonstrated significant financial growth and strategic expansion through June 2024, marking substantial progress across various sectors of its operations. Detailed financial statements from the company reveal a notable increase in total assets, which escalated to PKR 31,671 million in June 2024 from PKR 23,395 million in June 2023.
Over the past year, the company has also seen a considerable rise in shareholders' equity, increasing to PKR 9,680 million, alongside a boost in stock-in-trade, which now stands at PKR 5,101 million. Fixed assets have grown to PKR 16,649 million, up from PKR 14,456 million the previous year, reflecting ongoing investments in infrastructure and capacity enhancements.
According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the financial performance of Pakistan Cables has been driven by several key factors. Sales have surged to PKR 26.17 billion, up 21% from the previous year, primarily due to increased volumes from new capacity coming online. This growth is supported by the commissioning of the CCV Line in September 2023 and the AL Rod Plant in July 2024. The company’s gross profit followed suit, reaching PKR 3,363 million with a gross profit margin of 12.9%, indicating efficient management despite fluctuating copper prices and stable Pakistani Rupee.
The completion of new equipment under the Temporary Economic Refinance Facility (TERF) has further solidified operational capabilities, ensuring that all newly commissioned equipment is fully operational. Moreover, significant land transactions, including 4.33 acres initiated and 1 acre handed over, alongside a 6.8 acres land transaction approved by the Board of Directors, mark critical milestones in expanding the company’s physical footprint.
Despite these achievements, the company faced challenges with increased finance costs, which soared to PKR 1.7 billion due to higher working capital requirements and elevated interest rates, reflecting a complex economic environment.
As Pakistan Cables continues to navigate these developments, its strategic expansions and financial growth remain crucial for stakeholders tracking the manufacturing and industrial sectors' resilience in Pakistan.
