Pakistan Engineering Company Reports Loss Amidst Unchanged Dividend Policy

Lahore: Pakistan Engineering Company Limited disclosed its financial results for the nine-month period ending March 31, 2021, revealing a significant loss, as per its report dated June 8, 2026. The company's directors, after convening both in Lahore and virtually on June 6, 2026, have recommended no changes to the dividend policy, bonus shares, or any other corporate actions.

The company reported a loss after taxation of 262,681,000 rupees for the nine-month period, compared to a loss of 236,416,000 rupees in the same period the previous year. Meanwhile, sales for the six-month period decreased to 168.49 million rupees from 175.58 million rupees the prior year, while the cost of sales saw a decrease as well, amounting to 300.89 million rupees from 359.71 million rupees. The resulting gross loss for the period was 132.40 million rupees, compared to 184.13 million rupees in 2020.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the company's financial results have not prompted any immediate dividend announcements, reflecting a cautious approach amid ongoing financial challenges. Operating losses were recorded at 224.54 million rupees, a slight increase from 199.31 million rupees in 2020, compounded by a finance cost of 7.79 million rupees.

The condensed interim financial statements, including the statement of profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow statements, highlight an accumulated loss of 1.79 billion rupees as of March 31, 2021, compared to 1.53 billion rupees on June 30, 2020. Current liabilities rose to 720.31 million rupees from 601.64 million rupees, while total assets slightly decreased to 15.44 billion rupees from 15.55 billion rupees.

Despite the unfavorable financial indicators, the company did not announce any price-sensitive information, maintaining its current corporate structure. The statement of changes in equity also shows a reduction in the surplus on revaluation of fixed assets to 14.44 billion rupees from 14.45 billion rupees.
