Karachi: Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) has announced the commencement of oil production from the Dhok Sultan-03 well, located in District Attock, Punjab Province, under the Appraisal/Extended Well Testing (EWT) arrangements. This development follows the company's earlier announcement on September 4, 2025, regarding the discovery of oil and gas in the area.

Effective November 1, 2025, the company, which operates the block with a 75% working interest alongside its joint venture partner, Government Holdings Private Limited (GHPL) holding a 25% stake, has initiated production. The oil extracted from the well is being managed at the Dhok Sultan Oil Handling Facility, while the gas is transported to the Meyal Gas Processing Facility. The designated market category for this project involves the sale of oil to Attock Refinery Limited (ARL) and gas to Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL).

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), this venture is set to potentially increase production capacity to 1,400 barrels per day of oil, 2.5 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd) of gas, and 15 tons per day of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). This initiative is expected to contribute positively towards closing the energy supply-demand gap and conserving foreign exchange by producing indigenous hydrocarbons.
