Pakistan Stock Exchange Announces Holiday Schedule for 2026


Karachi: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) has released its official holiday calendar for the year 2026, detailing a total of 17 days on which trading will be suspended. This announcement was made on January 20, 2026, providing market participants ample notice to plan their activities around these closures.



The first holiday of the year is scheduled for Kashmir Day on Thursday, February 5. Subsequently, Pakistan Day will be observed on Monday, March 23. Juma-Tul-Wida, the last Friday of Ramadan, will be marked on March 20, followed closely by the Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations from March 21 to March 23, spanning three days.



Labour Day on May 1 will see a one-day market closure, followed by Youm-e-Takbeer on May 28. Eid-ul-Azha will result in a three-day suspension of trading activities from May 27 to May 29.



Ashura, falling on June 24 and June 25, will see a two-day halt. The market will also be closed on Independence Day, August 14, and again for Eid Milad-un-Nabi on August 25.



The final quarter of the year includes Allama Iqbal Day on November 9 and Quaid-e-Azam Day/Christmas on December 25.



According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), these holidays are in accordance with national observances and religious events, ensuring minimal disruption to trading activities while respecting cultural and religious commitments.



Market participants, including TRE Certificate Holders and Securities Brokers, are advised to take note of these dates to avoid any inconvenience in their trading operations. The PSX has ensured that this schedule provides clarity and facilitates effective planning for all stakeholders involved in the financial markets.
