Pakistan Stock Exchange Announces Updated List of Eligible Securities for Future Contracts

Karachi: In a recent development impacting the financial sector, the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) has released an updated list of securities eligible as market collateral for Deliverable Future Contract (DFC) market exposure margins, slated to take effect from Monday, July 29, 2024.

This update follows the National Clearing Company of Pakistan Limited’s (NCCPL) Notice NCCPL/CM/JULY-24/11 dated July 24, 2024. The revised eligibility list was formally notified by the PSX under its notice no. PSX/N-718 dated July 26, 2024, ensuring participants are well-informed of the adjustments prior to their implementation at the start of next week.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the list encompasses a diverse range of corporations from various sectors including banking, cement, technology, and energy. Notable names include AGHA Steel Industries Limited, Engro Corporation Limited, and Habib Bank Limited, among others.

The inclusion of these securities as collateral options is intended to facilitate market participants by broadening the range of securities they can leverage for margin purposes. This strategic move is anticipated to enhance liquidity and stabilize pricing in the DFC market by allowing more assets to be used in securing transactions.

Market insiders view this update as a critical step towards expanding the operational capabilities of traders and investors, providing them with more flexibility in managing their portfolio risks.
