Pakistan Stock Exchange Issues Reminder on Profit Distribution from Unutilized Funds

Karachi: The Pakistan Stock Exchange Limited (PSX) has issued an Investor Bulletin on June 16, 2026, aimed at reminding investors of their entitlement to profit on unutilized funds held with securities brokers. These funds, if maintained in a profit-bearing bank account, can yield returns that brokers are obliged to pass on to their clients.

According to the guidelines set forth by PSX, securities brokers must ensure a clear separation between their own assets and those of their clients. This requires maintaining distinct bank accounts specifically for the funds owned by customers. The initiative highlights the responsibility of brokers to distribute any interest accrued from these funds to their clients, in direct proportion to the unutilized balances held.

Prominently, the bulletin underscores the procedure for customers who prefer not to receive profit on their funds. It stipulates that such clients must communicate their preference in writing to their respective securities broker.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the compliance with these measures is crucial for maintaining transparency and fairness in the handling of client funds. The PSX, in its capacity as the regulatory body, continues to advocate for investor rights and the ethical management of financial resources by the securities brokers operating within its jurisdiction.

This bulletin serves as a vital reminder for investors to remain informed about their financial entitlements and for brokers to uphold the standards set by the PSX for the benefit of the market and its participants.
