Pakistan Stock Exchange Issues Risk Warning Alerts Against Two Steel Companies

Karachi: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) has issued Risk Warning Alerts ("RWA") against two steel companies for non-compliance with financial regulations, a move that may affect their trading status if unresolved. The alerts, dated October 22, 2024, target Dost Steels Limited and Beco Steel Limited for failing to meet regulatory requirements.

Dost Steels Limited has been flagged for suspending its commercial production and business operations in its principal line of business for a continuous year. Moreover, the company has failed to pay the required penalties, leading to an adverse opinion from its auditors. Similarly, Beco Steel Limited faces issues for not paying its due penalties, with its statutory auditors issuing a disclaimer of opinion in the audit report.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the notices follow earlier communications indicating these companies' consistent regulatory shortcomings. Both companies have been placed in the Non-Compliant Segment or the Winding-Up Segment, which carries significant risks, including the potential suspension of trading or delisting from the PSX if compliance is not achieved.

The PSX has stipulated a 90-day period for the companies to rectify their non-compliance issues, under the threat of further action which may include suspension of trading. This regulatory action underscores the stringent monitoring and compliance enforcement by the PSX to ensure transparency and protect investor interests.

All concerned parties, including the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan, the National Clearing Company of Pakistan Limited, and relevant company auditors, have been notified of these developments and are closely monitoring the situation.
