Pakistan Stock Exchange Mandates Quarterly Statements from Securities Brokers

karachi: The Pakistan Stock Exchange Limited (PSX) has issued an Investor Bulletin detailing the mandatory requirement for securities brokers to send quarterly account statements to their customers. This directive, dated July 1, 2026, stipulates that brokers must comply under Clause 4.21 of PSX Regulations by dispatching these statements within 15 working days following the end of each quarter.

The quarterly statements are intended to facilitate customers in monitoring account activities, assessing securities positions, and tracking money balances during the respective period. According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the statements must include a cash ledger statement. This document should detail the opening and closing cash balances alongside all receipts and payments of money, as well as any monetary adjustments related to trade settlements.

Additionally, the account statements are required to present the securities positions based on back-office records. This includes the status of available and pledged securities and must also reconcile any differences with the records from the Central Depository System (CDS). Furthermore, the statements need to show securities positions as per the CDS record.

Customers retain the right to request account statements for periods other than the prescribed quarterly intervals. They are also advised to report inaccuracies or discrepancies within seven days of receiving their account statements to ensure timely resolution. In cases where account statements are not received within the designated timeline, customers are encouraged to address the issue directly with their securities broker.
