Pakistan Stock Exchange to Conduct Sukuk Auctions Under Revised Calendar

Karachi: The Pakistan Stock Exchange Limited (PSX) is set to proceed with the auctions of Government of Pakistan (GoP) Hybrid Sukuk (GHS) and GoP Ijarah Sukuk (GIS) in alignment with a newly revised auction calendar. The announcement, stemming from a notice issued by the PSX on September 11, 2026, details the auction timeline for the period extending from October 2026 through December 2026.

The Ministry of Finance's Debt Management Office (DMO) has advised that the auctions will be conducted according to the revised schedule. The target auction calendar outlines the issuance plan for both Discounted & Variable Rental Rate (VRR) Sukuk and Fixed Rental Rate (FRR) Sukuk, alongside the Fixed Rate Zero Coupon (FRZ) Ijarah Sukuk.

According to the calendar, the PSX will hold auctions for the GoP Hybrid Sukuk on October 14 and 28, November 11 and 25, and December 9 and 23, 2026. Each auction is aimed at different maturity periods, including 3-month, 6-month, 1-year, and 10-year tenors, with a cumulative auction target size amounting to 1.80 trillion PKR.

For the GoP Ijarah Sukuk, auctions have been scheduled for November 4 and December 16, 2026. These auctions target 3-year, 5-year, and 10-year tenors, with a combined auction target of 275 billion PKR.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), these auctions are a part of the government’s strategy to manage public debt efficiently and provide an investment avenue for market participants. The auction figures highlight a significant move in the financial instruments market, based on the large-scale issuance targets.

The designated market category for these Sukuk is fixed income securities, a critical component in the broader financial landscape of Pakistan. The auctions are expected to play a pivotal role in the country's fiscal management and investment environment as the year progresses toward its conclusion.
