Pakistan Stock Exchange Witnesses Minor Move Amid Regulatory Penalty

Karachi: The Securities & Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has imposed a penalty on a company for failing to comply with the filing of annual returns for the years 2020 to 2022. This action took place in the context of the company’s non-compliance with the provisions of the Companies Act, 2017.

According to the SECP, the company was required to submit its annual returns within thirty days following its Annual General Meeting (AGM). However, as alleged by the Company Registration Office (CRC) in Karachi, the company failed to meet this obligation, prompting regulatory action. Despite repeated reminders, neither the company nor its management responded to the notices, leading to an ex-parte decision.

On September 11, 2025, the SECP ordered a penalty of PKR 750,000 to be imposed on the company. The penalty must be deposited within 30 days to designated branches of MCB Bank Limited or UBL Bank. The company is also directed to file the overdue annual returns immediately.

The company’s management is advised to comply promptly to avoid further action. A copy of the order will be retained for future reference by the registrar. This instance has contributed to a minor move in the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX). According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the market remained largely unaffected, showing resilience despite regulatory pressures.
