Karachi: The National Clearing Company of Pakistan Limited (NCCPL) has announced an extension for the registration of existing customers under the Customer Know Your Customer (CKO) regime. This extension, detailed in a notice dated April 1, 2026, is directed at all authorized intermediaries and clearing members.
Initially, the CKO functionality was implemented by NCCPL on June 17, 2019, with a requirement that all investors present in the Unique Identification Number (UIN) database complete their registration under the regime within a three-month period. Since then, NCCPL has repeatedly urged authorized intermediaries to assist their clients in fulfilling the registration requirements. The most recent extension was communicated through Circular No. NCCPL/CM/DECEMBER-25/18 on December 31, 2025, which extended the registration deadline to March 31, 2026.
However, the NCCPL has observed that a significant number of investors have yet to complete the registration process. Consequently, the deadline has now been further extended to June 30, 2026. According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), intermediaries are advised to ensure their customers complete the Know Your Customer (KYC) process within this newly allotted timeframe.
In addition, the NCCPL has conducted a validation process for the cell phone numbers linked to the customers in question. Instances where cell phone validation failed have been communicated to the respective authorized intermediaries, who are now tasked with providing alternative numbers to facilitate successful validation by the NCCPL.
The NCCPL has reiterated that the CKO regime now offers several convenient options for customer registration in the KYC database. The company emphasizes the importance of diligent efforts to complete the registration process by the stipulated deadline.
