Prema Limited Reports Significant Profit Growth Amid Challenging Market Conditions

Lahore: At-Tahur Limited, known on the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) under the symbol PREMA, has announced a remarkable 49.52% increase in profit after taxation for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025. This notable growth comes in the face of significant external challenges, including an increase in sales tax on pasteurized and non-pasteurized milk.

The company’s annual report, presented by the Chairman, highlighted that despite these hurdles, At-Tahur Limited achieved substantial profit growth due to its strong operational efficiency, prudent cost management, and product mix optimization. The company’s commitment to expanding its product lines and enhancing its processing facilities has been central to its strategy for sustained growth.

In the broader economic context, Pakistan’s economy showed signs of stabilization and recovery with a GDP growth of 2.68% for the fiscal year 2025. Industrial and services sectors led this growth, while the agriculture sector saw a modest increase of 0.56%. Inflation experienced a sharp decline, averaging 4.7%, the lowest in six decades, supported by monetary tightening and improved supply conditions. The current account surplus reached $1.9 billion, and foreign exchange reserves climbed to $16.6 billion, bolstering the country’s financial standing and leading Fitch to upgrade Pakistan’s sovereign credit rating to B- (Stable).

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), At-Tahur Limited’s revenue for FY2025 saw a decrease of 3.26%, yet the company’s focus on efficiency resulted in a gross profit increase of 4.61%, reaching PKR 2,517.86 million. Operating profit margins also rose by 6.43% to PKR 885.85 million. Profit before taxation was PKR 640.66 million, marking a significant move of 16.52% from the previous year.

The dairy and FMCG sector in Pakistan has maintained its critical role in food security and nutrition, even as consumer preferences and sustainability demands evolve. At-Tahur Limited’s efforts to reinforce sustainability were evident through initiatives such as a solar power system and a biogas energy generation project at its dairy farm, contributing to reduced energy costs and a lower carbon footprint.

The company also broadened its product portfolio by entering the eggs and honey markets, enhancing its FMCG offerings. Efforts to expand market reach within Pakistan and initial moves toward exporting to Gulf countries underline At-Tahur’s strategic focus on growth and diversification.

In terms of financial health, At-Tahur Limited’s earnings per share increased to PKR 2.42 from PKR 1.62 in the previous fiscal year, delivering better returns to shareholders. The company contributed PKR 786.68 million to the national exchequer, representing 13.91% of its total revenue.

At-Tahur Limited’s Board of Directors, consisting of seven members, including one female director, convened four times during the fiscal year. The company’s adherence to corporate governance and legal standards remains a priority, as evidenced by the independent market audit confirming the quality of its products.

Looking ahead, At-Tahur Limited’s leadership expresses confidence in the company’s path toward future achievements, underscoring its commitment to stakeholders and continued success.
