Reports of Lost Share Certificates Prompt Cautionary Measures Among Investors

Karachi: Two leading financial institutions have disclosed the loss of share certificates, prompting advisories to investors to exercise caution in their dealings. The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) has been notified of these incidents, according to official reports dated August 7, 2026.

MCB Bank Limited reported the loss of share certificates associated with Folio No. 96814. According to the report, Mr. M.A. Matin of C-106, Block-10, F.B.Area, Karachi, has notified the bank of the missing certificates. The specific details indicate that Certificate No. 1766757 is affected, with distinctive numbers ranging from 52163931 to 634858724 and from 5216403 to 63485878i, covering a total quantity of 1001 shares.

Similarly, the Bank of Khyber has reported a loss of share certificates under Folio No. 42497. The certificates in question were notified by Syed Faryad Ali, residing at House # L-2565 Block # 2 Abu Al Hassan Isphani Road Scheme 33 Muhallah Gulshan e Ighal Karachi. The affected Certificate No. 173989 has distinctive numbers ranging from 877902693 to 1035890716 and from 877902763 to 1035890761, involving a total of 71 shares.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), both MCB Bank Limited and Bank of Khyber have advised their respective members not to engage in any transactions involving these certificates. In the absence of objections within seven days from the notice, duplicate certificates will be issued to the concerned parties.

This development has highlighted the importance of vigilance among investors, emphasizing the need for careful tracking and management of share certificates to prevent potential financial discrepancies.
