Revised Trading Schedule Announced for Future Contracts Amid Book Closure by Askari Bank and BankIslami

Karachi: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) has announced changes to the trading and settlement schedule for Deliverable Future Contracts in response to the book closure dates announced by Askari Bank Limited and BankIslami Pakistan Limited. This adjustment affects the trading timelines for the DFC-AUG-2025, DFC-SEP-2025, and DFC-OCT-2025 contracts.

According to the revised schedule, the contracts for August and September opened on June 2, 2025, and June 30, 2025, respectively. Both are now set to close on August 27, 2025, with settlement on August 29, 2025. The October contract opened on July 28, 2025, with the same closing and settlement dates. The newly adjusted schedule reflects the companies’ book closure dates, necessitating the change from the initially communicated last trading day of August 29, 2025.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the trading and settlement schedule without entitlement benefits has also been revised. The SEPB contract will now run from August 25, 2025, to September 26, 2025, with settlement on September 30, 2025. The OCTB contract will span from August 25, 2025, to October 31, 2025, with settlement on November 4, 2025. Trades during this period will occur on an ex-benefit basis.

The overlapping period for the securities of Askari Bank Limited and BankIslami Pakistan Limited is scheduled from August 25, 2025, to August 27, 2025. During this time, market participants should note the adjustments to ensure compliance with the updated trading arrangement. The PSX retains the discretion to modify these dates as necessary.
