Karachi: Sapphire Fibres Limited has disclosed its intention to participate in the privatization process of the Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO), according to a report filed on August 25, 2026. This development comes as part of the company's strategic move to expand its portfolio in the energy sector.
The company has obtained the Request for Statement of Qualification (RSOQ) from the Privatization Commission, which is the initial step towards involvement in the divestment process of GEPCO. The Board of Directors of Sapphire Fibres Limited has approved the company's participation in this transaction. However, as of the current date, the company has not undertaken any binding obligations regarding this matter.
According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the participation of Sapphire Fibres Limited in the privatization endeavor is contingent upon pre-qualification by the Privatization Commission alongside necessary corporate and regulatory endorsements. The company has also indicated the possibility of forming a consortium post-approval to further pursue the transaction.
