Securities Brokers Required to Submit Reviewed Liquid Capital Statements by Set Deadlines

Islamabad: Securities brokers in Pakistan are required to submit their half-yearly Liquid Capital (LC) statements, reviewed by statutory auditors, by September 16, 2024, if their financial year ends on December 31. Those with a financial year ending on June 30 must include their LC calculations in their annual audited financial statements, to be submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) by October 31, 2024.

This compliance requirement falls under Clause 6(4) of the Securities Brokers (Licensing and Operations) Regulations, 2016. It mandates that securities brokers report their LC accurately and on time. According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), these measures are designed to ensure transparency and reliability in the financial reporting by brokers.

In cases where discrepancies arise between the reviewed or audited LC statements and the monthly reports previously submitted, brokers are required to explain the reasons for these differences by emailing [email protected]. This additional layer of scrutiny is aimed at maintaining strict compliance and financial discipline among securities brokers.

These regulations and compliance checks are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen financial oversight and enhance the operational integrity of the securities market in Pakistan.
