Security Investment Bank Reports No Dividend Distribution for Q3 as Profits Dip

Karachi: Security Investment Bank Limited has announced its financial results for the third quarter ended September 30, 2024, reporting a downturn in profits and a decision against distributing dividends, bonuses, or rights shares for the period. According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the Karachi-based bank's latest financial statement was disclosed following a board meeting on October 29, 2024.

In the details of the financials, Security Investment Bank saw a significant reduction in its quarter-over-quarter profit after tax, dropping from 30.00 billion in the third quarter of 2023 to 18.51 billion in the corresponding period of 2024. This decline aligns with a fall in operating profit before tax, which decreased to 15.81 billion from last year's 21.74 billion.

The bank's earnings per share also reflected this decline, standing at 0.32 compared to 0.59 in the third quarter of the previous year. Despite the lower profitability, the bank managed to report a slight increase in income from financing and placements, totaling 13.18 billion up from 6.67 billion a year ago.

Expenditure for the quarter also rose to 16.59 billion from 9.72 billion, with operating expenses contributing 16.59 billion, marking an increase from 9.72 billion in the previous year.

Security Investment Bank's financial performance this quarter signals challenges in generating shareholder value amidst broader economic conditions, emphasizing the decision to withhold shareholder distributions. The financial results of the company, including detailed statements, have been filed with the Pakistan Stock Exchange for shareholder review.
