Karachi: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) has received a formal letter of condolence from the Shanghai Stock Exchange following the passing of Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, the former Chairperson of the Board. The letter, dated December 30, 2025, was addressed to the Board of Directors of the Pakistan Stock Exchange Limited and acknowledged Dr. Akhtar’s significant contributions to both the PSX and the broader economic cooperation between Pakistan and China.

Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, known for her visionary leadership, was a pivotal figure in strengthening ties between the two stock exchanges. The Shanghai Stock Exchange, a member of the Chinese Investor Consortium, highlighted its long-standing collaboration with Dr. Akhtar, including a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed last year.
