Karachi: Share registrars, Corplink (Pvt.) Ltd., has reported the loss of share certificates by two shareholders, initiating the process to potentially issue duplicate certificates pending no forthcoming claims. The company has received indemnity from the legal heirs involved, notifying of the loss which collectively affects a significant number of shares.
According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the first case involves the shares of the late Ahmed Salim, where two share certificates, numbers 119100 and 120466, covering 536 shares are reported missing. The distinctive numbers of these shares range from 41926740 to 41926941 and 46143138 to 46143471. If no claims are made within seven days following the PSX circular, duplicates will be issued for these certificates.
The second case is more extensive, involving Noon Industries (Pvt.) Limited, where a shareholder has lost certificates for a total of 134,300 shares, documented across numerous certificates ranging from numbers 9156 to 35134. These shares are spread across various sequences of distinctive numbers, from 794772 to 3000800. Similarly, if no opposing claims are presented by the deadline, duplicates for these shares will also be processed.
Both incidents involve unverified transfer deeds, which add an additional layer of verification in the reissuance process. Corplink has alerted all stakeholders of these developments and is awaiting the stipulated period for any claims before proceeding with the issuance of duplicate certificates. This situation underscores the critical nature of safeguarding such financial documents and the procedural requirements that ensue their loss.
