Societe Generale Offloads Significant Shares in Telecard Limited

Karachi: Societe Generale Pvt. Limited, a substantial shareholder in Telecard Limited, executed multiple share transactions in early 2025, reducing its stake in the company. The transactions, disclosed under Pakistan Stock Exchange Regulation 5.6.4, reflect a consistent selling pattern over several months.

The series of transactions began on December 31, 2024, with the sale of 2.00 million shares at a rate of 9.89 per share, resulting in a cumulative shareholding of 61.91 million shares, representing 18.28% of total shares. Subsequent sales on January 13, 2025, and April 9, 2025, saw Societe Generale selling 1.00 million shares at 9.10 per share and 8,835 shares at 7.20 per share, respectively. These transactions brought the cumulative shareholding down to 60.90 million shares, or 17.99%.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the selling activity continued through April, with significant sales on April 10 and April 11. On these dates, Societe Generale sold 1,258,683 shares at 7.25 per share and 50,025 shares at the same rate, reducing their shareholding to 59.69 million shares, equating to 17.61% and subsequently to 17.60%.

Further transactions were executed on April 14 and April 15, with the sale of 525,000 shares at 7.12 per share and 157,457 shares at 7.20 per share, reducing the stake to 59.01 million shares, or 17.44%, and then to 17.40%.

The selling activity concluded with transactions on April 23, April 29, and May 2, where Societe Generale sold 1.00 million shares at 7.60 per share, another 1.00 million shares at 7.00 per share, and 155,234 shares at 7.00 per share. These sales further reduced their holdings to 56.76 million shares, approximately 16.76% of the total shares.

These transactions reflect a strategic reduction in Societe Generale's holdings in Telecard Limited, which could have implications for the company's stock dynamics within the designated market category.
