Standard Worldwide Limited Reports Substantial Loss Amid Regulatory Progress

Karachi: Standard Worldwide Limited, formerly an insurance company, has released its unaudited half-yearly report for the period ending June 30, 2026, revealing a significant financial loss while highlighting noteworthy regulatory advancements. According to the report dated August 25, 2026, the company reported a loss after taxation of Rs. 2,861,590 for the half-year, a very large or significant move compared to the Rs. 1,326,818 loss reported during the same period last year.

The company's financial position as of June 30, 2026, shows total assets amounting to Rs. 11.23 million, reflecting a decrease from the Rs. 11.53 million reported at the end of December 2025. The equity and liabilities section recorded authorized capital of Rs. 10 million, with issued, subscribed, and paid-up capital maintaining the same value. However, the accumulated loss increased to Rs. 58.31 million from Rs. 55.45 million, demonstrating the financial strain the company is experiencing.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), Standard Worldwide Limited has finalized an agreement with the Central Depository Company (CDC), enabling its shares for book-entry transactions. This development marks a crucial step in the company's journey toward restructuring and exploring new business opportunities outside the insurance sector.

The report further discloses the withdrawal of a winding-up petition filed by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) in 2024, which was successfully retracted on July 21, 2025. This resolution, coupled with the SECP's approval for a change of name and amendment to the object clause, positions the company for future ventures in high-growth sectors such as real estate and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG).

A noteworthy asset under consideration is the company's ownership of a heritage building on II. Chundrigar Road, Karachi. The management is evaluating options for its profitable utilization, including potential demolition and construction of a new office tower, refurbishment for rental purposes, or outright sale, pending a No Objection Certificate from the Heritage Department.

The board of directors has announced plans to convene a shareholders meeting to discuss and finalize turnaround strategies aimed at revenue generation, employment creation, and value addition. The company's commitment to compliance, transparency, and stakeholder engagement remains steadfast as it embarks on this new phase of growth.
