Suhail Jute Mills Faces Uncertainty Amid Leadership Changes and Asset Sale Stagnation

Karachi: Suhail Jute Mills Limited, in its progress report for the quarter ending June 30, 2026, outlined significant challenges following the death of its Chief Executive and principal shareholder, Mian Sohail Farooq Shaikh, as well as its long-serving Company Secretary, Farzand Ali Khan Bangash. The report was announced on July 22, 2026.

The company, operating predominantly in the textile manufacturing sector, has been unable to make substantial progress in selling its land, a move critical for settling outstanding obligations. This stagnation is attributed to the current security situation and the prevailing political and economic uncertainties in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

In response, Suhail Jute Mills is intensifying efforts to liquidate unutilized assets. This strategy aims to address debts owed to creditors, including those institutions that have obtained court decrees against the company. According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), these efforts are part of a broader strategy to stabilize the company's financial health.

An Extraordinary General Meeting (EOGM) has been scheduled for August 5, 2026, where shareholder approval will be sought to facilitate this asset disposal strategy.
