Karachi: Pakistan Reinsurance Company Limited has announced the appointment of Mr. Sulaiman S. Mehdi as the Chairman and Independent Director of its Board of Directors, effective from January 7, 2026. This appointment follows the Federal Government’s approval, communicated through a notification issued by the Ministry of Commerce.
The notification, marked No.2(3)/2009/BoD/PRCL/Aos-HR, was released on January 7, 2026, confirming Mr. Mehdi’s new role at the helm of the company. His appointment is still subject to the approval of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), as mandated by the Insurance Companies (Sound and Prudent Management) Regulations, 2012.
According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the nomination of Mr. Mehdi aligns with the strategic decisions undertaken by the company to enhance its governance framework. The Pakistan Reinsurance Company Limited had previously communicated this development through an intimation dated October 30, 2025.
The company has formally requested that the TRE Certificate Holders of the Exchange be informed about this significant development, which marks a pivotal point in its corporate governance structure.
