Karachi: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) has announced the suspension of trading activities related to the Government of Pakistan (GoP) Ijarah Sukuk (GIS) for rental payments due on January 24, 2026. In accordance with the scheduled rental payment, the trading of relevant GIS issues will be temporarily halted to facilitate the clearing and settlement processes.
According to the notification, the suspension affects both the Fixed Rental Rate (FRR) and Variable Rental Rate (VRR) Sukuk issued on January 24, 2024. Specifically, the three-year Fixed Rental Rate Sukuk, with a maturity date of January 24, 2027, will see trading suspension from January 21, 2026, to January 23, 2026. Concurrently, the Central Depository Company (CDC) will observe a shut period for this security from January 22, 2026, to January 23, 2026.
For the five-year Fixed Rental Rate Sukuk maturing on January 24, 2029, and both the three-year and five-year Variable Rental Rate Sukuk, the details of trading suspension and shut periods were not provided in the announcement. However, they remain subject to similar procedural compliance for the upcoming rental payment.
