Thal Limited Reports Strong Financial Performance Amid Economic Recovery in Pakistan

Karachi: Thal Limited has released its annual report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2026, showing a robust financial performance and significant growth in both its Engineering and Building Material & Allied Products segments. According to the company's report, the economic environment in Pakistan demonstrated resilience with a real GDP growth of 3.7% for FY2025-26, an improvement from the previous year's 3.2%.

Thal Limited's financial results reflect this economic upturn. The company's unconsolidated net revenue increased by 21% to Rs. 35.9 billion, up from Rs. 29.6 billion in the previous year. Profit after taxes and levies surged to Rs. 8.4 billion, marking a very large move of 227% year-on-year compared to Rs. 2.6 billion in the prior year. The consolidated financial performance showed a similar trend, with net revenue reaching Rs. 44.26 billion compared to Rs. 36.42 billion in 2025. Profit before taxes and levies for the consolidated entity rose to Rs. 15.77 billion from Rs. 12.09 billion, while profit after taxes reached Rs. 11.34 billion, up from Rs. 8.1 billion last year.

The Engineering segment, which includes the Thermal & Engine Components Division and Electric Systems Division, reported a strong performance with sales growing by approximately 42% year-on-year to Rs. 22 billion, up from Rs. 15.5 billion. This growth was driven by a rise in automotive production volumes, enhanced demand from existing customers, and successful outreach to new market participants. The automotive industry's expansion, despite challenges such as geopolitical uncertainties and supply chain disruptions, created favorable conditions for local component manufacturers.

On the other hand, the Building Materials & Allied Products segment, which includes the Jute, Packaging, and Laminates Divisions, experienced a minor move with a 1% decrease in turnover to Rs. 13.9 billion compared to Rs. 14.1 billion last year. The Jute Division faced particular challenges due to the absence of government wheat bag procurement and the closure of the Afghanistan border, which disrupted agricultural exports.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the company's financial results align with broader trends in the industrial sector, which saw significant contributions to Pakistan's economic recovery. Large-scale manufacturing grew by 5.8% during the fiscal year, in stark contrast to the contraction of 1.1% in the previous year.

Thal Limited's strategic focus on localization and import substitution has been pivotal in maintaining competitiveness and supporting long-term profitability. The company continues to explore new business opportunities in power and engineering solutions sectors, with an emphasis on enhancing operational efficiency and expanding its product portfolio.

As Thal Limited looks to the future, it remains committed to strengthening supply chain resilience and exploring growth opportunities despite potential macroeconomic and geopolitical uncertainties. The company's efforts to improve process optimization, deepen customer relationships, and diversify revenue streams are expected to support sustainable growth and value creation in the coming years.
