Trading Resumes for Government of Pakistan Ijarah Sukuk with Revised Profit Rates


Karachi: Trading for the Government of Pakistan’s Ijarah Sukuk, suspended earlier this month, is set to resume on Monday, January 26, 2026. The suspension, initially announced through a notice from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) dated January 13, 2026, pertained to issues with rental payments for the Sukuk.



According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the trading will recommence for both the 3-year and 5-year Fixed Rental Rate (FRR) and Variable Rental Rate (VRR) GIS issues dated January 24, 2024. The Sukuk will now be traded based on revised profit rates, impacting two specific VRR securities.



For the 3-Year Variable Rental Rate (P03VRR240127) maturing on January 24, 2027, the current net profit rate stands at 10.8963%. The latest 6-month weighted average yield as of January 21, 2026, is recorded at 9.9280%, with a spread of 0.15%. The net profit rate applicable from January 24, 2026, until July 24, 2026, is set at 10.0780%, marking a moderate move.



The 5-Year Variable Rental Rate (P05VRR240129), maturing on January 24, 2029, currently has a net profit rate of 11.0263%. The latest yield mirrors that of the 3-Year VRR at 9.9280%, with a slightly higher spread of 0.28%. The revised net profit rate for this period will be 10.2080%, also indicating a moderate move.
