Trading Suspension Announced for GoP Ijarah Sukuk Due to Rental Payment

Karachi: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) has announced a suspension in trading for the Government of Pakistan (GoP) Ijarah Sukuk issue dated March 07, 2025, due to the impending rental payment. According to a report released on August 21, 2026, all market participants are informed of the cessation of trading activities for this financial instrument.

The rental payment, applicable to both Fixed Rental Rate (FRR) and Variable Rental Rate (VRR) Sukuk, is slated for September 07, 2026. As a result, trading activities at PSX, along with the clearing and settlement processes at the National Clearing Company of Pakistan Limited (NCCPL), will be temporarily halted. Movement within Sub Accounts and Investor Accounts at the Central Depository Company (CDC) will also be affected.

The suspension will adhere to the following schedule: For the 3 Year Fixed Rental Rate Sukuk, with a maturity date of March 07, 2028, the suspension will commence on September 02, 2026, and conclude on September 04, 2026. The shut period for CDC will begin on September 03, 2026, and end on September 04, 2026. The same suspension applies to the 5 Year Fixed Rental Rate Sukuk, maturing on March 07, 2030, and the 10 Year Variable Rental Rate Sukuk, maturing on March 07, 2035.
