Trading Suspension Extended for Progressive Insurance Company Limited

Karachi: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) has announced an extension in the suspension of trading for M/s. Progressive Insurance Company Limited due to unresolved compliance issues. This development follows PSX Notice No. PSX/N-1075, dated November 08, 2024, and highlights ongoing challenges for the company in adhering to regulatory requirements.

The suspension stems from multiple non-compliance issues concerning PSX Regulations Clause(s) 5.11.1.(a)(b)(c)(d) and 5.11.2.(b). These include the company’s halted commercial production and business operations in its principal line of business, the failure to hold the Annual General Meeting, and the non-submission of annual audited accounts. Furthermore, the company has not settled its dues with the Exchange, and a winding-up petition has been filed against it by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) in court.

Effective from January 08, 2025, trading in the company’s shares will remain suspended for an additional 60 days, or until the underlying causes have been addressed. The PSX’s decision is in accordance with the powers granted under Sub-Section (7) of Section 19 of the Securities Act, 2015, and clause 5.11 of the PSX Regulations.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), this measure aims to maintain market integrity and protect investor interests while the company works to resolve its compliance deficiencies. The designated market category for M/s. Progressive Insurance Company Limited has been affected by these regulatory and operational challenges, further complicating the company’s status within the financial market.

The ongoing suspension serves as a stark reminder of the critical importance of compliance with regulatory standards and financial transparency. Stakeholders and investors are advised to stay informed of any developments regarding the company’s status and the potential resumption of trading activities.
