Karachi: WorldCall Telecom, one of Pakistan's leading broadband and telecom service providers, has recently revealed several strategic initiatives aimed at bolstering its service capabilities and market reach across the country. According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), these initiatives include significant investments in fiber optic infrastructure and broadband connectivity, with a particular focus on enhancing Fiber to the Home (FTTH) services.
WorldCall, with a network spanning 5,500 km of long-haul fiber optic plant and nearly 2,000 km of underground metro fiber in 20 cities, has achieved a major milestone by transporting over 300 million minutes of voice and data in the last six months. The company's management highlighted these achievements during their presentation this October, emphasizing their ongoing commitment to technological innovation and customer service improvement.
The company has launched the "Million Connect" initiative, which aims to extend broadband access to 1 million users through existing cable infrastructure, supporting the growth of broadband services in unserved and underserved areas. This initiative is part of WorldCall's broader strategy to leverage its existing infrastructure to reduce costs and improve service delivery.
Financially, WorldCall reported a 56% year-to-date revenue growth for the first half of 2024, totaling PKR 2.29 billion. This increase is attributed to the expansion of FTTH services and the upgrading of existing network infrastructure. The operational improvements have also led to a positive EBITDA, reflecting the successful implementation of the company's growth strategies.
Further supporting its growth, WorldCall has entered into strategic partnerships and technological collaborations, including a significant financing plan with GlobalTech Corporation, its ultimate holding company. These collaborations are expected to enhance WorldCall's technological capabilities and enable the provision of new services and products, particularly in the areas of digital technology and artificial intelligence.
In addition to these operational advancements, WorldCall continues to develop its international voice and data services, focusing on traffic termination into Pakistan, which remains a significant part of its business model. The company is also actively working on expanding its technological and product offerings, aiming to address a growing market demand in both domestic and international markets.
As WorldCall moves forward, it remains focused on driving technological innovation, enhancing service delivery, and expanding its market presence, ensuring that it continues to play a pivotal role in Pakistan's telecom and broadband sectors.
