Beco Steel Limited Announces Q1 2024 Financial Results with Positive Turnaround

Lahore: Beco Steel Limited released its financial results for the first quarter ended September 30, 2024, marking a significant improvement from the previous year's losses. The meeting held by the Board of Directors on October 29, 2024, at the company's headquarters on Peco Road, Lahore, highlighted a return to profitability with no new entitlements or price-sensitive actions announced.

The company reported sales of 446.12 million Rupees for the quarter, a substantial increase from 246.66 million Rupees during the same period in 2023. This growth in sales contributed to a gross profit of 66.12 million Rupees, compared to just 7.00 million Rupees the previous year. The improved sales figures reflect a robust recovery and operational efficiency within the company.

Costs associated with sales were also up, totaling 380.00 million Rupees, but the increase was proportionally less than the increase in sales, showing better cost management. Administrative and general expenses amounted to 53.51 million Rupees, significantly higher than the 7.23 million Rupees reported in 2023. Despite the increase in expenses, the company managed a positive operating profit of 10.26 million Rupees, a reversal from the operating loss of 2.67 million Rupees the previous year.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), Beco Steel Limited's return to profitability has been well-received by the market, indicating renewed investor confidence in the company's management and operational strategies.

The company's net profit after taxation stood at 4.64 million Rupees, a stark contrast to the loss of 5.81 million Rupees recorded in the third quarter of 2023. Earnings per share also reflected this positive trend, with a current value of 0.04 Rupees per share compared to a loss of 0.05 Rupees per share in the prior year.

The board has confirmed that there will be no cash dividends, bonus, or rights shares issued this quarter, maintaining a conservative approach as it continues to stabilize and grow its financial base. Further details of the company's financial results will be disseminated through PUCARS, ensuring that all regulatory and shareholder communications are transparent and timely.
