Karachi: The Searle Company Limited has reported consistent revenue growth over the past six years, as revealed during its Corporate Briefing Session for 2024. According to the company's financial performance data, revenue increased from 18.06 billion Pakistani Rupees in 2019 to 38.74 billion Pakistani Rupees in 2024, marking a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 17%.
The company's revenue grew by 13% in 2020, 28% in 2021, and maintained a growth rate of 14% for the years 2022, 2023, and 2024. However, despite the increase in revenue, The Searle Company Limited has experienced a decline in profitability. The gross profit margin decreased from 48% in 2019 to 39% in 2023 and remained steady at 39% in 2024.
The Selling, General and Administrative Expenses (SGandA) as a percentage of revenue showed a downward trend from 30% in 2019 to 25% in 2022 and 2023, before slightly increasing to 26% in 2024. The Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization (EBITDA) margin also saw a decline, dropping from 20% in 2019 to 17% in both 2023 and 2024 after peaking at 27% in 2021.
Similarly, the Earnings Before Interest and Taxes (EBIT) margin decreased from 18% in 2019 to 14% in 2024, while the Profit After Tax (PAT) margin fell sharply from 13% in 2019 to 1% in 2023, recovering slightly to 3% in 2024. According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), these figures indicate challenges in maintaining profitability despite strong revenue performance.
The data reflects a need for strategic adjustments to enhance profitability while sustaining revenue growth, as the company navigates a competitive market environment.
